Written by Mae Philippe-Auguste, The Ruins is an opportunity to support a new playwright as she develops her work and continues her playwriting journey. Your contribution directly helps make this development process possible, supporting Mae’s ability to workshop The Ruins with Amalgamation and continue growing her work as an artist.

About The Ruins:

After the climate disaster has led to the wealthy colonizing Mars, the working class are left to fend for themselves on a post-apocalyptic Earth. With most of the human population dead, a small number of survivors are left scattered in the remains of the Earth: The Ruins.

After struggling for too long, a small community of survivors is planning to trip on psilocybin mushrooms before ending their own lives, but their plan is interrupted when an outsider arrives. Can she convince them to stay, to rebuild and start again? Or will she join them?

The Ruins explores living in the results of the climate crisis and the cost to humanity that comes with that, as well as some things that will never change: the grief when you lose a loved one, struggles with mental illness, forming community with those you’ve found, and the yearning to do better, to make a better world, than those who came before you.

Your support will help us bring this intimate and deeply human story to the stage.

Help us build The Ruins.

Every contribution, no matter the size, helps make this production possible and supports independent theatre artists in creating ambitious work.
